The frozen river is used as a trekking route to Leh.

The trek begins in the village of Chilling, about 60 kilometers west of Leh. The 105km trek is strenuous as travelers have to walk about 15km each day. Trekking In Ladakh

Sham Valley Ladakh Trek Sham Valley Leh Ladakh Trek

Sham Valley – an oasis in barren central Ladakh. Among the barren mountains of Ladakh there is a place adorned with stunning lushness that would compel any painter to bring it to life on canvas. This place is better known in the world as “Sham Valley Trek Leh Ladakh”. Anyone who has been here or heard of this beautiful place may know it as Xinggu. It got its name from the almond blossom plantations that cover the entire area.
Markha Valley Trek Ladakh Markha Valley Trek Leh Ladakh

Markha Valley – Passes, Wildlife & More There is another gentler trek in Ladakh that takes you to an altitude of nearly 18,000 feet. If you are passionate about wildlife, you should choose this trek. For me, the highlight of the Marka Valley trek was through Hermis National Park. The reserve covers an area of over 4,400 square kilometers and is home to many rare animal species, including snow leopards.

Other animals you may see while traversing the national park include tibetan wolves, Asian ibex, Eurasian brown bear and red fox. Isn’t that the naturalist’s destination? The hike also offers the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views of the Stoke and Zanskar Ranges. Imagine snow capped mountains thousands of feet high with the sun rising behind them. Doesn’t that sound like the beautiful landscapes we draw in school art class? The 8-day journey will also take you through the lush barley fields of Yurutse and Ganda La, a high-altitude mountain pass at over 16,000 feet above sea level. From such a height, the view is sure to be breathtaking.

If you have been exercising for a while and your goal is to capture the stunning views of the Ladakh countryside with your camera, then I recommend you to embark on this tour. I promise you, you will enjoy every second of it.

Spituk-Stok Trek – short but effective So far we’ve discussed the 8-day layover, but now let’s look at shorter layovers. This option is suitable for those who do not have much time for adventure travel. If you can stretch your weekend, we recommend the Spituk-Stok Trek. Although the journey is short, it is not lacking in highlights compared to other journeys. You’ll still reach altitudes of over 16,000 feet and enjoy stunning views of the Ladakh countryside. It’s also a good option for those who are still nervous before a hiking adventure. I urge you to take this short trip now and maybe a longer one on your next visit to Ladakh. I say this because I’m sure you won’t be able to resist the temptation to linger here and come back.

The trek from Saboo village via Digar to Khalsar is considered easy and moderate and will allow you to get acquainted with Ladakh culture and its beauties in the best and shortest possible time. Visit sacred monasteries on this rugged six- to five-day hike. Meet and greet the locals and learn about their way of life. The trek starts from the charming and beautiful Sabu village.

From Sabu, trek to Sabufu and then to Digal village where you can enjoy stunning views of Stoke and the Karakoram range. Continue hiking east to the Shyok valley, which leads to Khalsar on the Leh-Panamik road. The final destination of this hike is Diskit
